Overview
Our Level 2 Functional Skills Maths online course includes everything you need to successfully prepare for the exam. The interactive learner platform guides you through each module using the latest learning technology—making study flexible, engaging, and easy to follow.
You’ll learn at your own pace, in your own time, with full tutor support available from start to finish. This nationally recognised, Ofqual-regulated qualification is equivalent to a GCSE in Maths and is accepted for jobs, apprenticeships, and further education.

- Units of measure and conversions
- Perimeter, area, and volume of 2D and 3D shapes

- Scale and maps
- Speed, distance, and time
- Shapes and properties (angles, symmetry, etc.)
Module 3: Handling Data
- Collecting and recording data
- Tables, charts, and graphs (bar charts, pie charts, line graphs)
- Averages: mean, median, mode, and range
- Probability and outcomes
- Interpreting and comparing data
Module 4: Solving Mathematical Problems and Decision Making
- Identifying and understanding problems
- Developing strategies for solving multi-step problems
- Interpreting solutions in context
- Checking and reviewing answers for accuracy
Qualifications Purpose
Functional Skills Qualification in English at Level 2 are for learners to develop understanding and skills in English.
The qualifications give learners the opportunity to:
- Demonstrate a sound grasp of the underpinning skills and basics of mathematical skills appropriate to the level, and
- Apply mathematical thinking to solve simple problems in familiar situations.
Qualifications Aims and Outcomes
Functional Skills mathematics qualifications at these levels should:
- Indicate that students can demonstrate their ability in mathematical skills and their
- Ability to apply these, through appropriate reasoning and decision making, to solve realistic problems of increasing complexity;
- Introduce students to new areas of life and work so that they are exposed to concepts and problems which, while not of immediate concern, may be of value in later life; and
- Enable students to develop an appreciation of the role played by mathematics in the world of work and in life generally
Progression Opportunities
Learners who achieve the Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics at Level 2 can progress to:
- Further mandatory mathematical study, such as GCSE
- The workplace
- Further vocational study.

Assessment
Throughout the Functional Skills Maths Level 2 course, your progress is assessed using online skill checks and diagnostic tests. Once you reach a score of 2.5 or higher, you’ll be ready to take the final exam.
The exam consists of two sections and can be taken entirely online from the comfort of your own home—no need to visit a test center.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, but a basic level of Maths is recommended. Level 1 or a diagnostic assessment may be used to guide placement.
